so like 5 hrs. ago i posted a ? about my foot and all the comments said its probably broken. since then,i have taken painkillers and showered and it feels the same.i read only the easiest bone to break (in ur foot) is the top bones called the metatarsals. thats where my foot hurts the most. i have a HUGEEEEE bruise there and its really sensitive. i waas wearing jeans earlier and when the end of the jean just grazed where it hurt, i felt like crying it hurt so bad. when i walk, it only hurts when i reach the pad part of my foot (like right below the toes on the bottm of my foot) ANWAYS my question is how to you tell if the metatarsals. are broken, fractured, sprained, or just bruised? and what would the doctor give me if it was broken/fractured/sprained? thanks yaaa!
okayy. but how could you tell from the look of something that it may be broken? my parents are just like "Its just a bruised bone." based on the giant bruise on my foot. but i truly dont think so...

The only way to tell is to have it x-rayed. If it is broken, you may get a boot or a cast, and a referral to a specialist.

In this case, you can not tell by looking at it, whether or not it is broken. Unless there is obvious deformity of a long bone (such as your femur, tibia/fibula, ulna/radius, or humerus), you need an x-ray to determine if it is fractured.
