Blood Test For Cholesterol - What Is It? And Should I Have One?
A blood test for cholesterol is important to your heart health. Cholesterol can be found in your cell membranes as a lipidic waxy form and is passed through plasma in the blood. Cholesterol is highly important for the cells and this is produced in the body. There is a proven link between the level of cholesterol in the blood and with the odds of suffering a heart attack. Elevated cholesterol levels in the blood is one of the number one reasons which heart disease occurs. Any condition which elevates your odds of contracting a disease is called a risk factor. The higher the risk is, the higher the chances are of getting a disease. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both women and men in America. Every year about one million Americans suffer a heart attack and half of those die.
This means that it is imperative that you watch your cholesterol levels. The sides of arteries are the locations that contain accumulations of masses resulting from surplus cholesterol in blood. The measurement unit of milligrams per decilitre of blood (mg/dl) is used for all blood fats testing. If the amount of total cholesterol is not more than 200mg/dl then it can be accepted. The latest medical dictum says that the higher the count in cholesterol will have greater the risk of having a heart disease or atherosclerosis (fat-clogged arteries). People that have elevated levels of cholesterol, such as over 240 mg/dL have almost two times the chance of having heart disease versus others that do not have elevated levels.
Whether the test and the results are valid is a very important issue to consider. One study showed that 70 per cent of the samples that were analysed revealed that there is proof that bias existed when computing the results.
Cholesterol can be increased in the blood from a variety of factors. A regular blood test for cholesterol can help to maintain the heart disease risk at minimum level. Taking regular physical exercise is a great way to burn extra calories. Bad cholesterol will be lowered by doing exercises daily which leads to raise good cholesterol. Shedding pounds would also be helpful.The alternate route is to be smart with dietary restrictions, keeping a watch on what you consume, to protect you from the disorder.

How accurate is a pregnancy blood test 7 to 8 days after conception?
My friend had a blood pregnancy test done 7 to 8 days after possible conception and the result came back negative. She is still having pregnancy symptoms. She asked the lady who gave her the results and the lady said that the test should not be done until atleast 10 days after conception to be most accurate. How accurate is a pregnancy blood test 7 to 8 days after conception? Thanks in advance!
I was told that a blood test can be done 9 days after conception and a urine test not until after the first missed period. I would definetly do a retest.
